At Queen's, Mathematical Studies covers three key areas: Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, and Statistics and Operational Research (SOR). School-level concepts are expanded upon, introducing new topics, and it is essential to recognize that university interpretations of pure and applied mathematics differ from those at school. Consequently, first-year students typically study both pure and applied mathematics, often including statistics as a third component.
