English and History, BA (Hons)

English Studies at Queen's University integrates a range of specialized approaches within a unified discipline. The literature modules guide students to examine authors' works in relation to their historical context, cultural influences, and relevant literary genres. These courses also introduce key critical theories, such as feminism, structuralism, and post-structuralism, which play a vital role in modern literary analysis.The language modules, also accessible via the Linguistics pathway (see page 196), explore language structure and function. This includes everyday language use and the major factors that have shaped it over the past 1,500 years.
