About the course

OVERVIEW BSc (Hons) Creative Technology has been developed in response to the growing demand from creative industry employers for graduates that combine hands-on technical skills with creative and design flair. The course will support you to develop versatile skills in a range of digital technologies in demand by the creative industries from film, animation, games, and virtual, augmented and extended realities. You will develop a solid base of coding skills, and knowledge of how to use and blend creative technologies that will give you access to technically based creative roles. KEY FEATURES

  • Share your first year with BSc (Hons) Creative Computing with a focus on the basics of creative coding and technologies that will serve as a springboard for your learning across the rest of the course
  • Gain your technical knowledge alongside your creative and design approach, including the fundamentals of design theory, including colour theory, observational drawing and composition
  • Experiment with projection mapping or depth sensing technology; AI, XR, physical computing and soft robotics
  • Explore data analysis and systems engineering alongside the foundations of HCI design and interactive data visualisations
  • Discover game play and no-code animation, UX versus UI, visual programming and graphics user interfaces (GUI)
  • Create projects in response to industry briefs and gain an understanding of the potential for, and theory of, computer-based technology in a wide range of digital creative and design sectors
  • Develop transferable skills in teamwork, project management, communication and problem-solving through integrated employability and entrepreneurship sessions
YOUR FUTURE In your final year you will produce a research report on a relevant area of theory, industry or practice and develop a career plan that will help launch you from graduation into industry. Graduates of the course will be digital creative practitioners with strong technical ability. You will be proficient in design skills and have a contemporary knowledge of creative technology that will either unlock high quality roles such as in immersive technology, physical computing, product development, XR design, or freelance careers in the digital creative industries. The course will also give you the skills and confidence to take roles and opportunities at the forefront disciplines which are yet to be defined.
