About the course

BSc (Hons) Construction Management examines the integration of construction processes and equips students to manage them effectively for optimal societal and environmental outcomes. With a rising demand for professionals skilled in construction, engineering, and management, this course addresses a current shortage, offering strong career prospects through modules in business and management, such as Commercial Management, Law and Procurement, and Management of People. A key feature is the option for a year-long work placement with a construction or engineering firm, enhancing practical experience. The programme is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), reflecting its high standards and alignment with the CIOB Education Framework. Graduates gain full academic exemption and, upon acquiring three to five years of relevant work experience, can pursue CIOB membership towards Chartered status without further assessment. Northumbria University maintains CIOB Accredited Centre Status through 2027, subject to annual monitoring.
