Biochemistry is the branch of science that explores the chemical processes within and related to living organisms. It is primarily a laboratory based science that brings together biology and chemistry. By using chemical knowledge and techniques, biochemists can understand and solve biological problems. The BSc (hons) Biochemistry course aims to enable a Northumbria graduate to gain the practical knowledge and skills needed to work in a scientific research environment, as well as transferable skills to begin a career in a wide variety of scientific and commercial fields. This course would be complementary in provision to the existing courses currently delivered within the department of Applied Sciences.
