The Bachelor of Education (Honours) prepares you for a rewarding teaching career. You can choose to specialise in early childhood, primary or secondary education - or a combination of these.

What you will learn

Your qualification will be a Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Secondary Health and Physical Education Healthy minds make for healthy communities. With this specialisation, you’ll be teaching young people about the importance of health and physical activity, helping them make a positive transition from adolescence to adulthood.What you’ll be qualified forYou’ll be able to teach adolescents from 12 to 18 years of age.You’ll qualify as a specialist secondary school teacher of both health (including human development) and physical education, with a third teaching area of your choice. This could be business, biology, geography, social sciences, digital technologies or mathematics (just to name a few). What you’ll be learningYou'll develop a diverse range of knowledge and skills as you build your understanding of health and physical education, and education as a discipline. In your health and physical education discipline studies, you’ll learn about the biophysical and behavioural foundations of health and physical education – and how to bring out the best health and wellbeing in your students and communities.By looking at how people build movement skills, you’ll develop advanced laboratory and field-based skills for sport and exercise science, and be equipped to coach across games, challenges and sports.This is all knowledge which you'll apply to your specialist teaching areas of health and physical education. In your education discipline studies you'll develop an understanding of adolescent learning and development in a secondary education environment, as well as curriculum planning, implementation and evaluation.With at least 80 days of professional teaching practice in secondary schools, you’ll have a chance to put theory into practice and start your journey as an inspiring and future forward educator.Your career optionsThis qualification meets the need for leading educators in health and physical education, opening up a number of career options in secondary school, community, recreational and sporting settings.
