The Bachelor of Education (Honours) prepares you for a rewarding teaching career. You can choose to specialise in early childhood, primary or secondary education - or a combination of these.

What you will learn

Your qualification will be a Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary and Secondary Inclusive and Special Education Every student deserves to learn in an inclusive and empowering environment. With this specialisation, you’ll gain the skills and experience to support young people with diverse needs to reach their full potential.What you’ll be qualified forYou’ll be equipped to teach children and adolescents from five to 18 years in both regular and specialist primary and secondary schools. What you’ll be learningThrough the development of specialist knowledge and skills which support the diverse learning needs of students in contemporary classrooms, you'll learn to employ varied pedagogical approaches, to accommodate a range of student needs including those with significant disabilities.At the primary level, you'll develop an understanding of how primary school aged children learn, including students with a disability, and how they can be catered for within regular learning contexts, across all primary curriculum areas. You'll develop your knowledge of cross curriculum priorities and the curriculum areas you will teach such as: English and literacies, mathematics and numeracy, arts education, humanities, science, digital technologies, and health and physical education, especially with a focus on accommodating student diversity.While at the secondary level you'll develop an understanding of adolescent learning and development, especially for students with additional learning needs in a secondary education environment, as well as curriculum planning, implementation and evaluation. You'll qualify as a specialist teacher in one discipline area with options spanning the arts, humanities, social sciences, science, mathematics, business and digital technologies.With at least 85 days of professional teaching practice in primary and secondary schools, and special education settings, you’ll have a chance to put theory into practice and start your journey as an inspiring and future forward educator.Your career optionsWith this dual-sector qualification, you’ll be ready to take on roles in a range of school environments – particularly in the high-demand area of inclusive and special education.
