Commerce is essential to society. The Bachelor of Commerce program examines how the human drive to exchange goods has influenced interactions among people and nations over centuries, and how global trade and digital disruptions are transforming commerce today.
Economics is the analysis of how people and societies choose to use their resources, and is at the centre of how our world operates. A major in Economics gives you knowledge of economic tools and analysis and teaches you how to apply them both in business and policy environments. You will learn how individuals, households, firms and governments interact, and how economies work. You will explore a range of different issues such as labour, health care, poverty, financial investments, production, taxes and government expenditures, and learn how to assess and implement policy change.Note: Background knowledge and application of maths is required at the equivalent of VCE Year 12 Higher level. You may have satisfied this by completing relevant prerequisite unit/s, or by studying relevant topics in your final years of secondary school or by successfully completing either ECC1550 Introduction to quantitative skills for social sciences or MTH1010 Functions and their applications, as a first-year elective.
