Why study BSc Business Economics at Middlesex University?This course will give you the solid working knowledge of both theoretical and empirical methods that can be applied to the industry and world context of business economics.The programme aims to provide students with:A firm foundation of knowledge about the workings of economic systems and to develop the relevant skills for the constructive use of that knowledge in a business setting.Stimulate students intellectually through the study of economics and to lead them to appreciate its applications to business practice.Develop in students, through the study of economics, a range of generic skills that will be of value in employment and self-employment.Provide students with analytical skills and an ability to develop simplifying frameworks for studying the real world.Develop in students an ability to interpret real world economic events and critically assess a range of types of evidence.Provide students with the knowledge and skills base from which they can proceed to further studies in economics, related areas or in multidisciplinary areas that involve economics.You'll gain a strong understanding of individual and firm behaviour under uncertainty as well as price determinism and discrimination. You'll study oligopolistic pricing using games and economic experiments and you'll explore world financial markets, regulators and financial instruments.You'll also develop your knowledge on securities analysis and investment as well as econometrics and sampling techniques, and risk and probability distributions.You'll be enabled to develop a robust ability to use Excel, Statistical software, interpret financial data and write business reports.
