Speech and Language Therapy, BSc (Hons)

As a speech and language therapist, you will support adults and children with challenges in language, speech, communication, stammering, voice, or swallowing. Your role involves assessing clients' needs and helping them communicate more effectively and confidently.This three-year course covers topics such as language structure, speech production, anatomy, developmental psychology, and the influence of politics on therapy services. You will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for assessing, analysing, and managing clients, including techniques like symbol boards for children or swallowing evaluations for stroke patients. Clinical placements occur annually, with past opportunities in hospitals, schools for special educational needs, and community clinics. Upon graduation, you qualify for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council, enabling practice as a therapist and membership in the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. The program offers access to advanced facilities, real-world experience through placements, and instruction from registered professionals.
