Speech and Language Therapy, BSc (Hons)

As a speech and language therapist, you will work with adults and children experiencing needs in language, speech, communication, stammering, voice, or swallowing. You will identify clients' communication requirements and support them in communicating more confidently and comfortably.This three-year course covers language structure, speech production, anatomy, developmental psychology, and sociopolitical influences on therapy provision. Beyond theory and research on communication challenges, you will gain practical assessment, analysis, and management skills, such as symbol boards for children or swallowing evaluations for stroke patients. Annual clinical placements include hospitals, special educational needs schools, and community clinics. Graduates are eligible for Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) membership.
