About the course

Our Human Physiology degree equips you with strong theoretical and technical skills for assessing human health and disease, exploring the body from cellular to whole-person levels through specialisms in cell and molecular sciences, neuroscience, exercise and nutritional physiology, and cardiovascular science. In specialist laboratories, you will monitor physiological systems and their responses to illness or environmental stress, while group study fosters teamwork and communication. In your final year, undertake independent research with expert staff, partially meeting requirements for Royal Society of Biology membership and Chartered Biologist (CBiol) status. The course is available with a foundation year.Professionally accredited by the Royal Society of Biology (up to 2024 intake; reaccreditation pending 2025), it emphasizes neuroscience, cardiovascular, and exercise physiology. Access high-specification labs—including blood biochemistry, microscopy, and exercise performance facilities—with equipment for cardiorespiratory, genetics, cell biology, nutrition, orthopaedics, and exercise research. Benefit from £115 million investments in the Dalton building, expert-led teaching, RISE internships, and online video support.
