BA (Hons) Filmmaking is a practice-based programme that empowers students to cultivate their unique voice through the dynamic medium of film, blending digital art and traditional film school approaches. Students explore narrative fiction, documentary, artists’ moving image, and new media, specialising in original ideas with opportunities for international screenings. At the School of Digital Arts in Manchester, learners join a vibrant creative community spanning disciplines like photography, animation, and sound design, fostering collaboration and access to advanced facilities, professional placements, and industry events.The course benefits from Manchester’s thriving media scene, second only to London, with proximity to major players like the BBC and ITV at MediaCityUK. Taught by industry professionals, it includes high-end equipment, guest lectures, film festivals, and partnerships such as with HOME cinema for student-led events.
