About the course

Our BA (Hons) Ethics, Religion and Philosophy programme equips students with critical engagement in religion, ethics, and philosophy, drawing on global philosophical history to foster independent, influential citizenship. It builds foundational knowledge in ethical, religious, and philosophical thought, addressing contemporary issues like social inequality, religious discrimination, and human rights, before advancing to moral philosophy, world religions, and responses to human environmental impact. Students complete a specialized research project, with a foundation year available.Expert-led teaching in moral theory and philosophy of religion ensures cutting-edge learning. From year two, diverse modules cover interests like gender, race, and sexuality within an inclusive curriculum emphasizing equity and diversity. Varied assessments—learning diaries, portfolios, blogs—develop employability skills, including collaborations like the Final Year Bioethics module with the Mental Health Foundation and links to PGCE. Options include study abroad, placements, seminar series with leading philosophers, and flexibility to switch to general BA Philosophy.
