About the course

Our Industrial Design BA (Hons) degree will equip you with the skills and understanding necessary for the design of physical objects and devices, focusing on product form, user interaction, CMF (colours, materials, and finishes) and manufacturing, as a part of professional design practice. The course develops specialist skills and abilities in the design and communication of ideas, interactions, and user experiences. It focuses on three-dimensional design, product styling and form, user research, CMF, manufacturing processes and the production of prototypes and finished artifacts.Industrial Design emphasises the ways that products are experienced by users. Throughout the course you will be expected to apply your understanding of branding, futures concepting and the circular economy to the design of future product-service systems. This course shares many of the same elements as the Design BA course. The distinct difference is that instead of having flexibility to select your design specialism during the first two years of study, students will be fixed onto the Industrial Design pathway. It is great for those dedicated to Industrial Design specifically, who want to develop specialist skills and sensitivity in the creative form and aesthetics of contemporary and future manufactured products.
