About the course

This course integrates psychology and sociology to explore fundamental questions of human identity and behaviour. By incorporating social psychological insights into traditional sociological inquiries, students will examine individual development, the influence of institutions and social structures, key theories from classical and contemporary sociologists, and psychological factors such as environmental impacts on behaviour and the interplay between individuals and cultural phenomena. Participants will also learn how psychology can benefit society and tailor their studies with optional modules in the final year, alongside diverse assessments like research presentations and potential journal publications.Hands-on opportunities in Leeds provide practical research experience through observational exercises and real-world projects, supported by the city's vibrant organisations. Unlike other programmes, this degree offers equal emphasis on both disciplines, encouraging independent inquiry and skill development. Expert, research-active academics deliver teaching, with features like guest lectures and work-based learning. Core modules span topics from "Doing Sociology in Leeds" to "Dissertation," with additional Year 3 options available.
