About the course

This course applies the science of food to promote health and explore social factors influencing diets and nutrition, while emphasizing nutrition's role in preventing diet-related illnesses in communities. Students will develop as reflective practitioners through practical experiences in health science and catering labs, gain insights into food-nutrition-health relationships, analyze and communicate nutrition data, and undertake work placements—such as 20-30 day options after year two or a full-year placement between years two and three.Accredited by the Association for Nutrition, the program prepares graduates for diverse careers in areas like the food industry, charities, community projects, sports nutrition, and research. It offers access to specialist facilities, real-world projects in Leeds, and opportunities to enhance employable skills through group activities and placements, fostering professional development across three years of core modules including human physiology, nutritional biochemistry, and advanced topics like sports nutrition.
