Textile Design, BA (Hons)

This Textile Design course focuses on creating sustainable fabrics through innovative and traditional methods, blending weave, print, mixed-media techniques, 3D construction, natural dyeing, and hand-embellishment. Students develop technical expertise and critical judgment in industry-linked studios, emphasizing environmentally conscious designs. Key opportunities include collaborating with peers, working on live briefs from companies like The Natural Fibre Company, and accessing scholarships from the Worshipful Company of Weavers, alongside travel to events such as Première Vision.The program spans three years, starting with foundational skills in colour, pattern, and responsible design, progressing to advanced techniques in jacquard and digital embroidery, and culminating in original collections and professional portfolios. Assessment is entirely coursework-based, including portfolios, journals, reports, and essays, with formative feedback to support skill development.
