About the course

This degree integrates theoretical and practical learning to prepare students for professional registration and a rewarding career as a learning disabilities nurse. These nurses deliver specialized healthcare and support to individuals with reduced ability to process new or complex information, working in settings such as homes, communities, schools, hospitals, and care homes. The course equips students to empower and safeguard people with learning disabilities through holistic care involving individuals, families, and networks.Successful completion enables registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, developing skills for evidence-based care in dynamic environments and multidisciplinary teams. The program features modular learning with five weeks of study followed by one week of assessment, 50% practical placement, and financial support up to £5,000 annually. Delivered by expert professionals, it builds professional identity, critical thinking, and career readiness through collaborations with NHS Trusts.
