About the course

Our flexible three-year Sociology degree offers unparalleled opportunities to tailor your studies to personal interests while exploring societal dynamics in a vibrant global city. You will cultivate critical thinking through topics such as social class, mobility, race, ethnicity, gender, culture, identity, inequality, migration, media, and criminology. The program also builds transferable skills in analysing, interpreting, and producing social data, supported by City’s Q-Step Centre. This includes developing data literacy, quantitative expertise, and options for a quantitative methods pathway with workplace placements, alongside internship opportunities in media, crime, justice, and human rights.The curriculum features core modules across three years, including Learning from Social Data, Thinking Sociologically, Contemporary Social Theory, and a final-year Sociology Project. Year 2 and 3 electives cover areas like Quantitative Analysis, Gender and Society, Global Migration, and Criminal Justice.
