Upon completion, graduates are eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. This prepares them for various nursing environments, with excellent career prospects in leading NHS trusts.The curriculum progresses from foundational nursing principles in the first year to person-centred care and clinical electives in the second, and leadership with a dissertation in the final year. Assessment methods include practice documents, essays, exams, OSCEs, and a dissertation. The program is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, ensuring industry recognition.
The first year focuses on the foundations for nursing and considers the psychological, social and biological factors influencing health. Students also undertake practice placements. In the second year, students focus on person-centred care and explore this theme in the context of acute and long-term care. Students can also pursue specific clinical interests on a two-week elective practice placement in addition to course clinical placements. In the final year, the emphasis is on leading and managing in professional practice. Students undertake a dissertation. As part of the clinical placement experience, students spend the final 450 hours of the course in practice and have a placement base and opportunities to identify practice experiences with their practice and academic assessors.
