About the course

Architectural engineers plan, design, build, and maintain structures shaping daily life, emphasizing structural engineering, architectural design, and building services. This accredited MEng programme equips students with essential knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience through lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, field trips, individual projects, and design classes, fostering practical abilities in surveying and design. Students tackle real-world engineering problems and industry scenarios individually or in multidisciplinary groups, mirroring professional teams to develop teamwork, communication, and project management skills. An open-access makerspace supports design, creation, and collaboration, complemented by advanced modules in design, management, and a multidisciplinary project. The course is accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and Institute of Highway Engineers, fully meeting Incorporated Engineer requirements and partially meeting Chartered Engineer standards. Industry-informed content is delivered by leading academic staff, many Chartered Engineers with industry experience. A strong design focus offers extensive hands-on work in makerspaces, laboratories, workshops, and computer suites, providing a direct pathway to Chartered status.
