Civil Engineering, BEng (Hons), with industry placement

Our BEng in Civil Engineering is an innovative program designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for the civil engineering and construction industries. The curriculum covers core areas such as design, structures, materials, fluid mechanics, geotechnics, and mathematics, progressing to advanced topics like structural analysis and computational mechanics. Students access state-of-the-art facilities, including laboratories for fluids, hydraulics, structures, materials, and geotechnics, as well as industry-standard software. The program features a residential field trip for hands-on surveying and geology, guest lectures from professionals, and visits to construction sites.Accreditation with the Joint Board of Moderators is under renewal, involving key institutions like the Institution of Civil Engineers. This three-year full-time degree (or four years with a placement) meets the requirements for Incorporated Engineer status, with an option to transfer to the MEng pathway for Chartered Engineer qualification. We encourage the placement year to provide valuable industry experience with contractors, consultants, or government authorities.
