Our Civil Engineering BEng programme is an innovative qualification designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for the civil engineering and construction industries. It covers core topics such as design, structures, materials, fluid mechanics, geotechnics, and mathematics, progressing to specialised areas like structural analysis and computational mechanics. Students gain hands-on experience through access to advanced laboratories, industry-standard software, residential field trips for surveying and geology, guest lectures, and site visits. The programme is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators and is expected to maintain this status. It can be studied full-time over three years or four years with a placement, meeting the requirements for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status. Students may transfer to the MEng route after the second year to qualify as a Chartered Engineer (CEng). We encourage the placement year to build professional experience in sectors like contracting or consulting. Typical modules include Reinforced Concrete Design, Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics, and Design of Steel and Timber Structures. For a full list, visit our website.
