The Business Computing (Social Media) BSc programme explores the transformative role of social media in modern connectivity and commerce. Students examine the rapid evolution of the internet and its applications, such as Skype, Facebook, and Twitter, as tools for business. Through a blend of theory and practical training, participants learn to evaluate organisational challenges, implement solutions, and ensure information systems adapt efficiently to growth and change. The course emphasises flexibility, allowing module selection and transfers between related programmes up to the second year.Project-based learning constitutes one-third of each year, including team and individual projects with opportunities for showcase events. A year-long work placement between the second and third years enhances employability, with graduates often joining firms like Accenture and Microsoft. The programme is accredited by the British Computer Society for Chartered IT Professional status and supports gender equality through initiatives like the Women in Engineering and Computing mentoring scheme.
