Sports Coaching and Physical Education, BSc (Hons)

This course is designed to ensure that you learn the pedagogical practice needed to coach athletes across the spectrum of ages and abilities. You will also develop knowledge of the landscape and practicalities of teaching physical education in schools.By developing your coaching, teaching and leadership skills, you will be ready for a variety of careers in sport including sports coaching, management or teaching. This course will also prepare you to embark on a Master’s in Coaching or a postgraduate course to gain Qualified Teacher Status.Physical education continues to be an important part of government agendas, so with this in mind, you will learn relevant and up-to-date information that is linked and mapped to the National Curriculum for Physical Education (NCPE). You will be taught the contemporary information that educators within this sector require.This course will help you develop a keen understanding of your own coaching and teaching philosophy, and provide information about the industry and cultural factors that influence the wider context of sport. In order to apply your skills, you’ll go on placements, gaining first-hand experience in a coaching and/or school environment, which will enhance your future employability.
