With specialist teaching facilities, a diverse range of clinical placements and designed in line with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards, successful completion of this course enables you to register with the NMC as a midwife. The course also includes qualifications in Neonatal and Infant Physical Examination and the Baby Friendly Initiative.All teaching staff on the course are qualified midwives who have worked in practice, and many still do. This means tutors have a unique insight into issues which affect your academic and clinical experience. Placements usually take place across Birmingham’s NHS Trusts with continuous support and encouragement from both your personal tutor and midwifery mentors.Our facilities include a home birth environment, mock wards and teaching tools such as the PROMPT birth simulator and neonatal manikins to help simulate a variety of birth scenarios. You will gain broad and diverse experience within both consultant-led units and designated midwife-led birth centres during your studies.
