About the course

Our BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering programme equips you with the skills to excel in mechanical engineering roles across various organisations, emphasising sustainable practices and the Government's STEM priorities. It provides essential knowledge for a dynamic industry, including hands-on experience with industry-standard tools, design techniques, and facilities like test cells and exhaust analysis equipment. The curriculum emphasises project-based learning, where you collaborate in teams from design to implementation, gaining practical skills in engineering science, problem-solving, and project management. You will engage with advanced technologies, foster creative thinking, and develop leadership abilities through independent research and application of modelling techniques to real-world systems. An optional professional placement year allows you to gain a full year of employer experience after your second year, supported by the University's networks, with fees equivalent to 20% of the annual full-time rate, preparing you directly for employment.
