About the course

Our BA (Hons) Criminology program, supported by strong partnerships with local criminal justice organizations in the voluntary, public, and private sectors—including the West Midlands Police Force—offers a comprehensive perspective on crime, punishment, and victimization. It builds knowledge of key criminological theories, their historical and political foundations, and practical applications, equipping students to understand the broader criminal justice landscape.Additionally, the course includes an optional professional placement year after the second year, enabling students to spend a full year with an employer for hands-on career experience. Many students secure placements through the university's extensive network of local, regional, and national employers, with some returning to the same organization after graduation. Please note that placement year fees are equivalent to 20% of the full-time course fee.
