About the course

This course produces Computer Science graduates skilled in artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics to build intelligent software for the 21st Century. These graduates will close the skills gap in the British and global industry. Skills development in Data and Artificial Intelligence tops the list of four ‘grand challenges’ facing British industry, highlighted in the UK Government’s Industrial Strategy and inspired by a global demand for this expertise. BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence will produce graduates who specialise in the most modern methods of artificial intelligence including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, machine learning operations and data science. You will also learn a wide range of tools for evaluating, storing, integrating and processing data, to deliver high-value software solutions to the challenges faced by the modern economy. While the majority of these specialist subjects will be taught in the final year, the earlier years of the course will also have some modules on AI and related topics. After studying this course, you can apply for job titles including the terms computer science and artificial intelligence, and roles such as Computer Programmer, Artificial Intelligence Engineer, Software Developer, Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer.Professional Placement YearThis course offers a professional placement year. This allows you to spend a whole year with an employer, between the second and third years of your degree, and is a great way to find out more about your chosen career. Some students even return to the same employers after completing their studies. The University will draw on its extensive network of local, regional and national employers to support you in finding a suitable placement to complement your chosen area of study. If you do not find a suitable placement, you will be automatically transferred back to the standard, non-placement version of the course. Please note that fees are payable during your placement year.
