Neuroscience elucidates the changes underlying neurological diseases, from neurodegenerative disorders to mental health conditions.Offered by the Departments of Biology and Psychology, this course aligns with our research strengths, spanning the mechanistic workings of the nervous system to behaviour and disease. As a research-intensive university, York integrates research-led teaching across all programmes. Our neuroscience research encompasses molecular, cellular, circuit, systems, cognitive, and behavioural levels, bridging biological and psychological approaches. It forms one of three themes in the interdisciplinary York Biomedical Research Institute (YBRI) and aligns with the Institute for Mental Health Research at York (IMRY), which unites university experts to tackle key mental health challenges.
