Developing a critical understanding of marketing is fundamental to the course; theoretical concepts are explored in many contexts, allowing students to gain problem-defining skills. Analytical skills are developed to enable students to interpret and translate data to make marketing decisions. Year 1 - students are introduced to the business principles underlying marketing. Students gain an understanding of the marketing profession and identify and develop key marketing skills. The emphasis of Year 2 is how to respond to consumers and stakeholder needs to create viable marketing opportunities, as well as providing opportunities for students to hone their management capabilities. Year 3 is strategic in nature allowing students to develop critical thinking skills. Students consider the complexities and ethical implications of marketing, exploring the relationship between culture & marketing and marketing & society. There is a one year work placement before the 3rd year of study.
