The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) is a four-year specialized degree aimed at developing graduates with essential knowledge, technical expertise, and practical skills for modern engineering. Mining engineers are responsible for the extraction of minerals from the ground using surface and/or underground mining techniques. They are involved in activities such as deposit evaluation, mine design, mine production and waste disposal. Mining Engineering at UWA produces skilled engineers with an emphasis on the analysis, design and optimisation of complete mining operations (systems) from extraction of the ore to delivery of the final product. The Mining Engineering major covers geology, finance and management, as well as detailed knowledge of surface mining, underground mining, rock mechanics and mine design.
