BA(Hons) Filmmaking, located at Bower Ashton Studios within the City Campus, is a production-focused degree where students learn through hands-on creation. The teaching team, comprised of experts at the forefront of modern media, brings extensive practical experience to foster intellectual and imaginative innovation. Students explore 21st-century filmmaking via diverse short-form projects, equipping them with skills to adapt to industry evolution over the next decade or two using advanced techniques.The program maintains strong ties with organizations like the BBC, ITV, Aardman Films, Bottleyard Studios, and E3 Media, offering professional insights and work placements. Notable guest speakers have included directors Ben Wheatley and Gurinder Chadha, alongside masterclasses with editor St John O’Rorke and art director Sarah Greenwood. Graduates showcase their portfolios at the final-year Creative Industries Degree Show, leading to careers in media as researchers, camera operators, editors, producers, and more. The course is accredited by ScreenSkills, affirming its industry recognition.
