About the course

Our BA in Creative Writing and Film enables you to refine your creative writing skills while expanding your film knowledge and analytical abilities. Delivered jointly by the Department of English Literature and the Department of Film, Theatre and Television, the course involves exploring writing in small peer groups, examining film as entertainment, theory, and art, and developing practical filmmaking skills. The interplay between creative writing and film analysis strengthens your narrative craft, with optional hands-on activities enhancing character development and storytelling.Sample modules include Introduction to Creative Writing, Approaches to Film, Contemporary Fiction, Film Forms and Cultures, Creative Research Project, and Advanced Scriptwriting. These are subject to final approval and availability for 2025/26; please refer to the university website for updated details.
