About the course

Explore the chemistry of cosmetic design and development through our distinctive BSc in Chemistry with Cosmetic Science, which includes a Year in Industry. This four-year programme features a professional placement between the second and final years, preparing you for a booming industry. As one of the EU’s largest markets, cosmetics is expanding rapidly, creating a shortage of skilled chemists for product innovation.Developed in partnership with the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Society of Cosmetic Scientists, and industry collaborators at the University of Reading, the course involves working with experts in chemistry, biological sciences, food, and pharmacy. You will study topics such as the chemistry of colour and scent, ensuring product stability, and the ethical implications of ingredients. Sample modules include Fundamentals of Atomic Structure and the Periodic Table, Cellular and Molecular Principles of Life, Core Cosmetic Science, Polymers in Nature and Industry, and Chemistry in the Natural World. For more details, visit our course page.
