This course provides comprehensive insights into computing systems and software essential for advancing technology amid smart devices and global green energy demands. Learning occurs through individual and group laboratory work, covering topics such as analogue and digital electronics, circuits, systems, computing, communications, and electrical energy applications. The third year involves an industry placement, where students can secure positions or arrange their own, while remaining university-registered with tutor support. Graduates gain expertise in hardware and software engineering, enabling rewarding careers. All electrical and electronic programs share core content in the first two years, allowing specialization from year three, with the five-year MEng option offering deeper knowledge for Chartered Engineer status.The curriculum begins with a common first-year program in engineering mathematics, power and energy, and information systems. The industrial placement is completed in your third year. In your final year, you will undertake an individual project and study state-of-the-the-art technologies. In many cases, this project contributes to the major industrially related programmes undertaken by research groups within the department.
