This challenging and flexible degree draws on two internationally renowned centres of excellence in research, teaching, and theatre practice. It explores a range of literary works, introducing theoretical approaches for critical engagement with texts in their historical and cultural contexts, while developing students' critical, imaginative, and practical skills in the social, historical, and cultural dimensions of theatre. The English department boasts world-class experts in film studies and creative writing.On-campus facilities include Special Collections on renowned writers, The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum—a unique resource for film and popular culture—and the Digital Humanities Lab.
