About the course

Psychologists conduct experiments to explore human perceptions, decisions, prejudices, motivations, friendships, and memory, while investigating how the brain and body influence these processes. They seek to identify where these functions occur in the brain and how they are represented. Cognitive neuroscientists work to map the connections between brain activity and behavior, examining areas from vision and hearing to language, action, attention, emotion, and social interactions. The Centre for Brain Science provides opportunities to study neurophysiological processes in the body and brain.Students gain access to facilities for experimentation and research on the human mind, covering core topics in psychology and cognitive neuroscience, such as brain and behavior, methods in cognitive neuroscience, applied psychology, language and perception, and developmental psychology. This program offers an immersive experience in the UK, allowing learning from researchers and participation in the Research Experience Scheme, where students can work directly with psychologists. Many courses include optional modules for personalized study, with more details on the University of Essex website.
