This course addresses critical questions in criminology, such as how to prevent crime, the rationale and methods for punishment, and the motivations behind criminal behavior. Delivered in collaboration with the Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies, it examines crime's societal impact alongside counselling, which explores emotional challenges and interpersonal dynamics. Students enhance their interpersonal effectiveness, fostering empathy and sensitivity for professional settings.Key topics include criminal justice systems, crime in the media, mental health interventions, counselling skills, and therapeutic relationships. The program provides training in sociological research methods, psychodynamic concepts, and skills like observation and communication. Taught by experts in sociology and counselling, it offers opportunities for practical experience, international study, work placements, and a supervised dissertation, preparing graduates for impactful careers.
