Translation, Media and Modern Language, BA (Hons), with study abroad

This course offers a distinctive blend of advanced language studies and training in translation and media, designed to overcome barriers of language and culture. Students will achieve degree-level proficiency in French, Spanish, or Japanese, while selecting from specialised modules in translation, media, culture, and society. The programme introduces essential translation skills across various media and genres, including opportunities for work experience, subtitling, dubbing, and additional languages like Arabic, BSL, Chinese, or German, subject to availability. Access to state-of-the-art language labs and engaging activities, such as cultural events and translation projects, enhances the learning experience.In the third year, students immerse themselves in a country where their chosen language is spoken, through university study or placements in France, Spain, Japan, Canada, or Latin America.
