This course brings together countries and cultures by enabling students to master two languages—selected from French, Spanish, or Japanese—while building professional skills in translation and interpreting. Students will achieve degree-level proficiency in their chosen languages, selecting from a diverse array of modules covering translation, interpreting, cultural studies, communication, subtitling, and dubbing. They will gain practical experience in various interpreting contexts, such as public service and conferences, and access advanced translation technologies in our language lab. Extracurricular activities, including cultural events and community projects, further enrich the learning experience. In the third year, students immerse themselves in the languages and cultures through study abroad, teaching assistantships, or placements in relevant countries, including France, Spain, Japan, Canada, and Latin America. Graduates pursue successful careers in teaching, language services, media, business, and marketing. Note that course details may change; please verify on the provider's website at www.uea.ac.uk.
