About the course

Drama and Creative Writing converge to create compelling narratives, foster innovative expression, and inspire audiences to reconsider their world, whether through page, stage, or screen. This fosters personal growth, new perspectives, and the potential to influence lives globally. At UEA, the degree combines two outstanding departments, including the UK's premier Creative Writing program, where students are guided by accomplished artists, writers, and scholars. The curriculum covers modules in both fields, exploring global playwrights, theatre practices, and creative writing techniques, with a strong emphasis on stage, screen, television, and radio. Students engage with dramatic history, criticism, and performance, enriched by international literary traditions. In UEA's professional Drama Studio and through the student-led Minotaur Theatre Company, learners gain hands-on experience in performance, technical skills, and scriptwriting. Set in Norwich's vibrant arts community—including venues like Norwich Theatre and the National Centre for Writing— the program opens doors to careers in creative industries, such as writing, theatre, film, and radio, or broader professional fields. An exciting option includes spending the third year at partner institutions worldwide. Note that course details may change; verify on www.uea.ac.uk.
