Mechanical Engineering, MEng (Hons)

This course offers a well-balanced curriculum in mechanical engineering, encompassing a broad spectrum of topics in engineering science and practice. It aims to prepare future mechanical engineers to make meaningful contributions to society throughout the 21st century. The program integrates professional skills in key areas: design and manufacture, dynamics and control, materials, and energy and fluid flow. In the first two years, all students follow a shared curriculum focused on fundamental principles, delivered through lectures, seminars, laboratories, design classes, and short projects in modelling and manufacturing.In the third year, students apply these principles to real-world, complex engineering challenges, culminating in an open-ended individual research project that fosters independent and creative thinking. The fourth year allows for specialization through elective options and involves a major group project addressing technical challenges. Additionally, the course is professionally accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, ensuring recognition of the qualification's quality.
