About the course

Join a university ranked first in the UK for Geography and Environmental Studies research (THE analysis of REF 2021) and in the top ten for teaching in Geography and Environmental Science (Complete University Guide 2024).In the first year, students gain an overview of physical and human geography while developing key geographical and scientific skills. Subsequent years focus on specialist units in physical and/or human geography. Physical geography explores Earth's dynamic processes, such as climate change, glaciology, and hydrology, through a multidisciplinary lens. Human geography delves into cultural, economic, and social aspects, including global politics, economic development, health inequalities, and social theory. Students also build expertise in specialized software, statistics, and field data collection, with residential UK trips in year one and an overseas trip typically in year two. These skills culminate in a self-directed dissertation in year three. Think Big bursaries of £3,000 support first-year international undergraduates. The course is accredited by the Royal Geographical Society, ensuring industry recognition.
