Petroleum engineering focuses on designing and developing technologies for the exploration and extraction of oil and gas reservoirs, while also equipping graduates with skills applicable to renewable energy sectors like geothermal energy and carbon capture and storage. This programme addresses technical, safety, and economic aspects of field development, covering topics such as petroleum geology, drilling, well engineering, and geomechanics. Students learn to ensure sustainable recovery, processing, and utilisation of petroleum products in challenging environments, alongside skills in project management, economics, and environmental assessment.The curriculum adopts an interdisciplinary approach, beginning with foundational engineering disciplines before specialising in the third year, allowing flexibility in career options.
