This program provides education in veterinary medicine to the highest international standards. In the Republic of Ireland, a degree in Veterinary Medicine, registered by the Veterinary Council of Ireland, is essential for veterinary practice. UCD's Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (MVB) is the only such qualification available in Ireland. The profession promotes animal health and welfare, focusing on the care of healthy and sick animals, prevention and treatment of diseases—including those transmissible to humans—and the productivity of livestock.
