About the course

This course provides established pathways to fulfilling careers in rural business, estate management, and countryside property sectors. Accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), it covers essential topics including rural professional practice, law, valuation, building construction, management, planning, and development. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of business management to offer effective advice on farm estates and rural enterprises, while appreciating the multifaceted nature of rural practice. The program features lectures, seminars, group tutorials, practical sessions, and visits to local farms and estates. Assessment involves coursework based on real-life case studies from land management firms, with a research project in the final year. Work experience is encouraged during holidays in the first and second years, with a minimum two-week placement required at the end of the second year. The course allows flexibility to transfer to a Real Estate degree under specific conditions, and modules are detailed on the university website.
