About the course

Would you like to collaborate closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other professionals to plan, deliver, and evaluate care for patients undergoing surgical or anaesthetic procedures? This BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice programme is ideal for highly motivated individuals with a specialist interest in surgical patient care. It equips you with essential clinical, interpersonal skills, and specialised knowledge to manage patients across the three perioperative phases: anaesthesia, surgery, and post-anaesthetic recovery. You will train in our state-of-the-art clinical skills centre using simulation, practical sessions, and workshops to master equipment for perioperative care. Approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), successful completion enables registration as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), a role in high demand in the NHS and private sectors.
