Our Criminology and Forensic Science degree, taught by research-active criminologists and experienced former forensic practitioners, provides insight into crime study and investigation within the criminal justice system. The program features two themes: criminology, covering crime theory, societal policing, and alternatives to custodial sentencing; and forensic science, focusing on scientific principles and practical techniques for crime scene and laboratory analysis to locate, examine, and interpret courtroom evidence. Students gain extensive hands-on laboratory experience in areas such as analytical chemistry, blood pattern interpretation, DNA analysis, and fibre examination, with an optional one-year placement in a related field after the second year.Designed to foster high achievement and professionalism, the degree builds fundamental knowledge and skills, developing independent graduates capable of addressing complex problems with confidence and maturity. It is accredited by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences.
