About the course

Our Aeronautical Engineering course equips you to address future aviation challenges, extending beyond traditional aircraft to include sustainable propulsion, automation, and unmanned systems. You will study key topics such as Autonomous Vehicles, Sensor Fusion, Machine Learning, Noise Control, and Fluid Dynamics, alongside fundamental engineering principles. Practical experiences include flight testing with up to four flights in a equipped aircraft, aircraft design modules, and a final-year team project to innovate future aircraft solutions. Taught by research-active staff in the Department of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering, the course features strong industry links and outstanding facilities. The BEng and MEng degrees share the first two years, focusing on aeronautical content. The MEng offers advanced technical and management studies, language options, and a more substantial final project, potentially with international or industrial collaboration. Both can include an industrial placement year. Assessment combines coursework, exams, presentations, and reports. The course is accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, ensuring industry recognition.
